Microsoft has created a new "How To" site that teaches you how to use your phone like an expert. Included on the site is a number of videos that reveal how to personalize your phone, how to use Cortana, how to play music and games, how to use the camera, and more. This is a timely move by Microsoft, since the software giant has just started rolling out the Lumia Blue update for Lumia phones. This includes Windows Phone 8.1, and thus, there might be some questions about new features such as Cortana. The virtual personal assistant is available in the U.S. for Windows Phone 8.1 users, and will soon be released world-wide. If you're new to the platform, or want to learn some of the things that you didn't know that your phone could do, check out the homepage. Easy to understand videos show you precisely how to get certain features to run on your Windows Phone handset. Homepage Source

Open the Start Screen personalization with a single click
geeteam posted a topic in Guides & Tutorials
I have discovered a hidden secret feature of Windows 8.1 which allows you to open the Start Screen personalization options with one click. As you may have seen from first hand experience, opening the Start Screen personalization requires several steps. You must switch to the Start Screen, then open the Charms and click "Personalize". This involves too many clicks and if you frequently need to change personalization settings, it can get tedious. From now on, you will be able to create a special shortcut anywhere you want, e.g. right on your Desktop! Let's explore this useful feature. 1. Right click on the Desktop and choose New -> Shortcut from its context menu 2. Type or copy-paste the following as the shortcut target %localappdata%\Packages\windows.immersivecontrolpanel_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Indexed\Settings\en-US\SettingsPane_{911DD688-AEBA-4214-8C58-9C8FBC8C0710}.settingcontent-ms 3. Give the shortcut any name of your choice 4. Optionally, set the desired icon for the shortcut you just created 5. That's it! Now you can simply click this shortcut, and it will take you directly to the Start Screen personalization! more info:-
