AMD has released a new display driver today for Windows 11/10. This is a beta driver and is not Microsoft WHQL certified. The release is said to address one of the biggest Windows Update-related issues wherein an older driver delivered via Windows Update will overwrite a newer driver. This issue happens across different generations of GPUs, but AMD says that the bug has been resolved for its latest RX 9000 series cards. So that is some progress, and hopefully, the Radeon team will be able to fix this issue for all generations of its GPUs. Aside from that, the new 25.3.2 driver (Driver Version 24.30.31.04 and Windows Driver Store Version 32.0.13031.4034) also brings support for a couple of new games. First is Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Shadows, and second is The Last of Us Part II Remastered. There are also several game bug fixes, like the one for MSAA on Counter-Strike 2, Alt-Tab crashing, a multi-monitor bug, and more. Windows 11 PCs with Snapdragon X Elite processors can access beta driver v31.0.96.0 to improve app and gaming stability. Uploading its beta v31.0.96.0 driver, Qualcomm is "committed to continuously improving your experience" with a trio of newly supported games, upgrades to existing titles, and a batch of stability fixes for ARM64-native Windows 11 apps like Adobe Photoshop and Blender. Playing PC games on Windows PCs running Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite processors has been a mixed bag since the first batch of laptops, led by the launch of ASUS' Vivobook S 15 Copilot+ PC. Early performance varied from passable to shockingly impressive in examples like Zac Bowden's review of the Vivobook S15, so it's great to see Qualcomm using these driver updates to improve the experience and support popular PC games like the "perfect sequel" of Kingdom Come Deliverance II. Epic Games and Qualcomm are already pairing up to solve the issue of missing anti-cheat support and allow the phenomenally popular Fortnite to come to Snapdragon X laptops, so seeing similarly successful games like the crossplay-enabled Palworld come to the platform is encouraging. Native ARM64 builds would always be better for gaming performance. Still, updates like these bring us closer to running these titles "just fine" using x64 emulation, as Qualcomm boasted in the early days of Windows on Snapdragon. Selfishly, my long-term dream for Qualcomm is to see it partner with PC gaming handheld OEMs similar to the recently-announced Android-based devices running Snapdragon G chips and succeed in this evolving market. The rapid progression of Intel's platform-agnostic XeSS 2 upscaling technology and its competitors have legitimized the concept of AAA gaming in ultra-portable form factors with low-power processors running at maximum efficiency — whether Qualcomm can offer a comparable suite for PC gaming is up for debate, but more competition is always good. Nvidia has a new graphics driver for download, and it's packed full of support for upcoming games, DLSS 4 in more games, ongoing bug fixes for the RTX 50 series graphics cards, and more. The upcoming The Sims rival inZOI is receiving day-one support with the driver. Interestingly, players will find an experimental 'Nvidia ACE autonomous game characters' setting in-game, letting its NPCs turn "smart" using "higher levels of artificial intelligence." Meanwhile, Nvidia DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation support has been added to Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Half-Life 2 RTX Demo, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. It was October when AMD last released a WHQL-certified driver for Radeon graphics users, but it finally has a new version ready this month. The AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 24.12.1 driver comes with support for six games, which include titles that have released in the last couple of months too. Those with a Radeon GPU already playing or looking to jump in to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Slitterhead, or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl can now download the latest driver to get a better experience. As for new titles, Marvel Rivals (December 6) and Delta Force (December 5) have both received official support with this driver release too. AMD hasn't detailed any exact improvements but 24.12.1 is a recommended install for all these games. Next, on the AI side, ONNX Runtime, TensorFlow, Beta support on Triton is now available for Windows Subsystem for Linux on Radeon hardware. Bioware's Dragon Age: The Veilguard is now out, and AMD has prepared a new driver for those who want day-one patches and optimizations for the game. The latest driver is in beta (non-WHQL), so it might be less stable than WHQL-certified releases. In addition to support for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, driver 24.20.19.05 fixes a single bug in The Crew Motorfest where texture corruption occurs when playing the game. AMD has released a new Windows WHQL Adrenalin graphics driver today (Driver Version 24.20.11.01 and Windows Driver Store Version 32.0.12019.1028). The new 24.10.1 driver brings support for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Unknown 9: Awakening.
