Microsoft has released a new version of its Skype messaging service for members of the Skype Insider program. The new build number is 8.106.76.206. It has a new call experience for its mobile apps, a new camera revamp for its Android app, and a way to add Bing to one-on-one chats. Here is the changelog. Microsoft pushed out new Windows Insider Dev and Beta builds last week. As it turned out, the company also pushed out a new Skype Insider version as well. This one has the build number 8.95.76.207 and has some new features. The biggest one is adding the new Bing to Skype. If you are a part of the new Bing Chat testing group, this new Skype Insider build will allow you to have conversations with the chatbot, and you can even add it to group conversations. Users of the Skype Android app will also get a new launch animation with this Insider build. In addition, the Skype Insider build has new Skype-to-Skype call support for the Touch Bar on Mac PCs. Here's are some more details: Control includes; mute/unmute, toggle video, end call. Control is enabled: if the user is the call initiator, as soon as the call is initiated, and even before the other user answers and during the call. If the user is a call receiver, control is enabled: only when the call is answered. Microsoft releases new Office Insider Build 14217.20002 for Windows users Microsoft has released a new Office Insider Preview Build 14217.20002(Beta Channel) for Windows users. The new Office Insider Preview build adds improvements to Outlook but adds no new features. Apart from that, you get a ton of fixes for issues found in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project. Changelog Outlook Improvements for default and mandatory labeling Sensitivity labels let you classify and protect your organization’s data, while making sure that user productivity and the ability to collaborate isn’t hindered. We’ve now improved the functionality for default and mandatory labeling in Outlook. Outlook clients that use built-in labeling will now also enforce the existing PowerShell label policy advanced settings DisableMandatoryInOutlook and OutlookDefaultLabel, previously supported only by the Azure Information Protection unified labeling client. If you have already configured these settings for your organization, they will now be enforced in Outlook clients. Excel Notable Fixes We fixed issue where chart axis values could not be changed if both the thousand and decimal separators use the same symbol. Project Notable fixes We fixed an issue where engagements created in the Project Web App might not load properly in the Project desktop client if the resource name had special characters, such as a semicolon. We fixed an issue where, when the project option “Project should calculate costs” is disabled, the time-phased cost values might not have been correctly baselined for cost-type resources. We fixed an issue where project-level enterprise custom fields with lookup tables were not showing a value in the Project desktop client. Microsoft has released Office Insider Preview Build 14430.20088 for Insiders on Windows in the Current Channel. The new Office build adds a number of new features, including the ability to add WebP images to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, support for OpenDocument 1.3, improvement to the Read Aloud feature, and the ability to turn off the suggested replies in Outlook. Changelog Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Add WebP images to Office creations WebP is a modern image format that offers better compression for publishing images to the web. We’ve now added support in Office apps for WebP images! To add a WebP image to your creation in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook, just go to the Insert tab, select Pictures > This Device, choose your image, and click Insert. Learn more Word, Excel, PowerPoint Support added for OpenDocument format 1.3 Support for the newest version of OpenDocument format (ODF) 1.3 is now available in Office! The ODF 1.3 specification adds support for many features already supported by the Office Open XML (OOXML) format; these features can now be saved by Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (file extensions .odt, .ods, and .odp). To use the new format, just click File > Save As and in the Save as type field, select the OpenDocument format. To access the feature, click the Read Aloud button (found on the Message tab in Outlook and on the Review tab in Word). To switch between different voice options, select the Settings icon at the upper-right corner of your message or document and click the Voice Selection drop-down menu. (Note: You must be connected to the internet to access this feature.) Excel Hide the flyout for query information If you use queries in Excel, you know that hovering over the query name in the task pane opens a preview flyout, with information about that query. You might prefer to hide this preview; now you can easily do it. To hide the query preview flyouts, go to the Data tab, then select Get Data > Query Options. In Global > General, uncheck the option Show the query peek when hovering on a query in the Queries task pane. Outlook Turn off Suggested Replies Outlook makes it easy to reply faster to emails by offering short suggested replies for messages that can be answered with just a few words. Some users may not want to see this option, so it’s now possible to turn the feature off. To do so, select File > Options > Mail, go to the Replies and Forwards section, and clear the Show suggested replies check box.
