Microsoft finally removes a six-month old Windows 11 24H2 update block
Karlston posted a news in Software News
Microsoft, last month, removed an upgrade block for Windows 11 version 24H2 that had been placed at the launch of the feature update back in September 2024. The tech giant is repeating that action again this month too, as earlier today, Microsoft removed yet another upgrade block related to compatibility problems with wallpaper customization apps like Wallpaper Engine. Microsoft says that it is slowly beginning to remove this safeguard hold as app updates are beginning to incorporate the necessary fixes, although the company still does not recommend trying a forced update to 24H2 if you are on an older Windows 11 version. It writes: IT admins and system admins can find information related to this problem using the safeguard ID 52754008. You can view the issue here on Microsoft's official Windows health dashboard website. Neowin noticed that the Wallpaper Engine team released an update, version 2.6, to fix Windows 11 24H2-related problems back in February. The patch notes say: You can find the full patch notes for Wallpaper Engine here. If you still can't update, perhaps it is one of the newer compatibility blocks that Microsoft recently placed. Microsoft removes one more Windows 11 24H2 update block, you can download it now
Karlston posted a news in Software News
Microsoft has confirmed that more users can download Windows 11 24H2 feature update now. The company has lifted another upgrade block, also known as a safeguard hold, under the ID 55382406. The block was put in place so as to prevent Windows 11 24H2 PCs from running into Auto HDR troubles when gaming due to a compatibility conflict. The company had imposed the block around the middle of December 2024. The safeguard is no longer applicable with the latest non-security preview update, a.k.a. C-release, under KB5050094 (build 26100.3037). Thus, affected users can now manually download the Windows 11 version 24H2 as an optional update. Microsoft, on its Windows health dashboard website, writes: You can find the issue here on the Windows Health Dashboard official website. For those who do not want to manually install this optional update, they can wait till the next month, as the February 2025 Patch Tuesday will make it available to everyone. KB5048667: Microsoft removing Windows 11 24H2 USB-related 54762729 update block soon
Karlston posted a news in Software News
Earlier today, or last night depending on where you live, Microsoft released the final Patch Tuesday updates of 2024, for Windows 10 (KB5048652 / KB5048661 / KB5048671 / KB5048703) and Windows 11 (KB5048667, KB5048685). With the latter, the tech giant is going to remove an upgrade block for Windows 11 version 24H2 feature update "in the coming days." The block was put in place under safeguard hold ID 54762729 to prevent issues with USB scanning, printing and network devices like modems. For those who may not have followed, Microsoft had stated that switching from USB to eSCL mode was broken. However, as always, the company has added that it can take up to two days or around 48 hours for Windows 11 24H2 to be offered via the Windows Update page. A way to hasten the process is to restart the device following the update. The company writes: You can find the issue here on Microsoft's official Windows health dashboard website. For those who do not wish to wait, you can also use a Registry or Group Policy editing hack to update to Windows 11 24H2 immediately after downloading and installing the latest Patch Tuesday. You can find it in this dedicated article. Source Hope you enjoyed this news post.
